The Return of Bradley's Brushback
I took a break from writing my Bradley’s Brushback blog. The break went on longer than I expected. Part of the hiatus was the result of internal doubts as to whether anybody really cared about what I was thinking. Did my observations add any value to the public’s discourse on the Washington environment?
I missed writing my blog. I love working with Congress. I enjoy my relationship with so many of your elected officials. And, I still believe, although a little less so, that politics can and should be an honorable profession.
In the past few months many of you have asked me if I would ever restart Bradley’s Brushback. There have even been a few members of Congress who told me they “missed my observations." So here it goes - Welcome back to Bradley’s Brushback.
In these intensely partisan, divisive political times, it is important to remember that the title of my blog is Bradley’s Brushback, not Bradley’s Beanball. A brushback pitch -yes I like my baseball analogy- is a pitch, usually a fastball, that is thrown high and inside the strike zone to move the batter away from the plate. A beanball’s intent is to hit the batter. I don’t want to hit or hurt anyone, but I do want to offer observations and reclaim a little bit of our home plate.
